My work lands in two places. Most of it goes to other engineers, as the design system, the component library, the monorepo and the tooling around it, and lately a stack of in-house AI tooling that makes everyone faster. Some of it goes straight to customers, since we own a good share of the central app. Either way the person at the far end is who it's for. A platform is only worth having if the product gets better for the people using it, so that's the question I ask before I get to the architecture one. About ten product teams build on what we ship, and I lead the four engineers behind it.
I'm from Charleston, SC and I've been in Denver long enough to call it home. Most weekends I'm above treeline, chasing the kind of day that runs into double digit miles and a few thousand feet of climbing, and I keep a running spreadsheet of the peaks I still owe myself. When I'm not on a summit I'm usually on a lake with a paddle, or watching an unreasonable amount of hockey, which is how Sticktap came to exist. At home there are two cats, one of whom is shaved, and both of them are deeply unimpressed by all of it.
Check out some of my work!
An agent researches and designs off-trail routes in the Colorado high country; deterministic Python measures them and cuts the files I carry. A case study on where I let a model decide and where I don't.
A favorite-first hockey schedule with streaming and ticket info. A passion project I built for myself and use in my own life.
A fighting game I built during bootcamp in all vanilla JS. Nothing fancy, but I still look back on it fondly, so I keep it maintained to a base level of function.
A magic eight ball to shout your questions into. A small React thing I made for the fun of it.
These are my proficiencies!
